Fit guide

Steam Deck OLED vs LCD which skin fits yours

The two Steam Decks look identical from across the room, which is exactly why people order the wrong skin. Here is the one difference that matters for fit, how to tell your Deck apart in two seconds, and what the skin covers on each.

Same body, different face

The Steam Deck LCD (2022) and the Steam Deck OLED (late 2023) share the same outer shape: the same width, the same grips, the same trackpads, buttons and back paddles, and the same footprint in a dock or a case. The OLED model is a little lighter and its screen is bigger: a 7.4-inch OLED panel with thinner bezels, against the LCD's 7.0-inch screen.

That bigger screen with its narrower bezel is why front-facing accessories (screen protectors, front plates) are sold per model. We hold a separate cut file for each Deck as well, so you never have to think about it: pick Steam Deck OLED or Steam Deck LCD when you order and the skin arrives cut for that one.

How to tell which Deck you have

Two tells, no settings menu needed:

  1. Power button: orange on the OLED, grey-black on the LCD.
  2. Screen: the OLED's picture runs closer to the edges of the glass; the LCD has a visibly wider black border.
  3. Still unsure: Steam menu → System → the model is listed under Hardware.

What the skin covers

The skin covers the back shell and the flat faces of the grips, with the vents, the back paddles, the trackpads and every button left open. It adds no thickness a dock or a case can feel, and it peels off clean whenever you want a new look. Browse designs on the Steam Deck skins page and choose Steam Deck OLED or Steam Deck LCD at checkout; the skin is $29.95 either way. Not affiliated with Valve.

Questions people ask

Will a Steam Deck LCD skin fit the OLED?
Order the skin for the Deck you have. The two share a body, but we cut each from its own file, so picking your model at checkout is what guarantees the fit.
How do I know if I have the OLED or the LCD?
Look at the power button: orange means OLED, dark grey means LCD. The OLED's screen also runs closer to the edge of the glass.
Does the skin cover the screen or the trackpads?
No. The screen, both trackpads, the buttons, paddles and vents stay open. For the screen, use a glass protector; it fits alongside the skin.
Will it still fit in the official case or a dock?
Yes. The skin is about 0.2 mm thick, so nothing changes about how the Deck fits anything.
Do you cut for the Steam Deck OLED Limited Edition?
Yes: it is the same body as the standard OLED, so the OLED skin fits it.
