FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q - How do I place an order?

A - If you are looking to place an order, simply click on your desired product you're interested in and then click "add to cart". When you are ready to complete your order, click "proceed to checkout". You will then follow the instructions on how you would like to pay for your item.

Q - How do I upload my own skin design?

A - To upload your own skin, you will need to first email us your design to myphoto@designskinz.com. From here, our staff will take your design and apply it into our template for the proper set up. You will be emailed a proof for your approval . Once you approve, you will need to purchase the listing before we can ship:)

Q -  How do I track my order?

A - Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a shipping notification via email that will give you your tracking number, along with a direct link to the carriers website. If you didn't get an email, let us know. 

Q - My tracking activity is not updating ?

A - Please allow 24-48 hours for activity to start appearing on your tracking. If it has been past two business days and is not updating,  contact us. 

Q -  How do I cancel or edit my order?

A - If you need to change or cancel your order, fill out our contact form here.

Q - What are my payment options?

A - We accept almost all major Credit cards, along with PayPal. These options will be offered during checkout. We cannot take cash. 

Q - How long will it take before it ships? 

A - After you order, please allow 1-7 business days for your item to be produced and shipped. We will ship your item as quickly as possible and some ship within minutes! Please allow 3-10 days on custom orders, such as but not limited to, custom monogramed items.  

 

Q - How long will the skin last?

​A - The skins from Design Skinz will typically last years. Made from a very durable vinyl, the skins can take a beating.

  Q - What devices do the skinz fit?

A - Design Skinz are available for most of your favorite devices! We work daily on new outlets to offer our sweet lineup for. 

Q - Are the skinz waterproof?

A -  The skins are made from the a similar premium vinyl used to wrap vehicles in, so they are waterproof once the skin is applied to your case! You will just need to apply the skin to the case while it is dry first, then everything will be fine to submerge into the water:)

Q -  Can the skinz be taken off?

A - Of course! For ease of removal, please use a hair-dryer to heat the material up as you pull. This will loosen the adhesive and help you out during this process. For best results, peal the skins off slowly. DO NOT USE ANY SOLVENT. (DESIGN SKINZ IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU RUINING YOUR DEVICE!) All of our skinz have been thoroughly tested.

Q - C an I reapply them after I remove from my device?

A - It's possible, but we don't recommend this. Depending on how carefully you remove them, sometimes they can stretch. If they do, they will not fit like the should on the second-go-round:). 

Q - What are they made of?

A -Well, its top-secret over here. But i can tell you that it's some good stuff. You see, the adhesive backing on your skin even has a patented, compl-technology that acts and air channels. Why would you need this? Hmm... well, you know when you try to apply anything sticky to a surface and those air-bubbles occur that you can't rub out? Yeah, we are not a fan of those neither. When applying our skinz, you can rub out all of those ugly things. All of our printed skinz also have a clear lamination applied to the surface that protects the graphic form scratches and normal abuse. ( NOTE: Glitter Skinz do not have this sweet adhesive backing [yet] )

Yeah, we think they are pretty legit too. 

Q - D oes my Lifeproof or Otterbox have a warrantee?

A - Yep, they sure do. Aren't you glad? These are official cases, so they come with the same warrantee as bought from anywhere else. 

Q -  Something happened to my case, how can I inquire about a replacement?

A - Just stay calm! it's going to be okay, I promise. For Lifeproof or Otterbox (they are actually now owned by the same company), they ask to have the customer contact them directly.  They are usually pretty good about replacing defected cases, their contact info for a warrantee claim is found here:  www.lifeproof.com/en/contact/warranty/

All they will do is get your serial number off of your case and they should replace it, this would be the fastest way to get a replacement. If you run into any problems, please get back in touch with us!

Q - How do I upload my own skin design?

A - The same as you'd do for your device itself.  To upload your own skin, you will need to first email us your design to myphoto@designskinz.com. From here, our staff will take your design and apply it into our template for the proper set up. You will be emailed a proof for your approval . Q - Are these Authentic cases?

A - Yep. We are here for the long run, who really makes it far cheating on anything? When you purchase a case from us, you can expect to get the same, exact quality you'd get form any retail store. Well, as long as they are selling an authentic case too... 

Q - How do I apply my skin?

A - Now that you've received your skin, it's time to show it off! First off, you need to clean your device from all the dust and oil from your fingers. (We know you can't put this baby down) You can do this with a micro-fiber cloth. Once you have your desired area clean, it's time to apply your fresh skin. Peel one skin off from the main document and carefully line this up on your iPhone. Smooth out all air-bubbles just by rubbing your fingers across the skin firmly. Repeat for the opposite side and you are ready to roll!

Q - Any tips for applying my skin on heavily curved  surfaces?

A - When applying the skin to heavily-curved surfaces, a hair-dryer may be needed to soften up the vinyl to form properly. This will allow the skin to form around the curves without lifting back to its original memory. Simply apply the neccessary amount of heat to the edges after you position the skin properly onto the device. DO NOT HEAT THE SKIN BEFORE APPLYING TO YOUR DEVICE. You'll notice, when you heat these, they are then at your mercy. You will want to place the skin on all surfaces that will not wrinkle first.   DO NOT OVERHEAT! The skin is made from a very soft material and too much heat could damage the vinyl. If you have any questions, please contact us here. 

Q - I got a wrinkle when applying my skin, what can I do?

A - Once you familiarize yourself with the area that will not form without wrinkling, its time to pull out that hair-dryer/heat-gun! Once the vinyl is soft enough, just press the skin onto the curved surface and hold in place for a few seconds. While the skin cools, it will memorize the curve and stay in place. If it starts to lift, just keep pressing it onto the curve. 

Q - I ruined my skin applying it, can you help?

A - Sure, we get it... this happens! Send us a picture of your skin and we'd love to help you. 

Q - How do I get air bubbles out?

A - If you are working with our printed Design Skinz, these have the comply-technology as stated above. The Glitter skinz are a little more tricky, you will need to rub them out as you apply the skin.  

 

Q - I received a shipping notification, what does that mean?

A - Well, it means it shipped! That's good news. In your shipment email, you will also find the tracking number. It's always fun watching every city your package jumps through, and even what time it did. 

Q -  How do I track my order?

Q - I live outside the USA and It's saying my package departed the USA, but tracking hasn't updated in a few days?

A - This is normal. Think about it, for just a few dollars, someone it literally bringing you a skin from a different country or even continent. Your package has to go through all sorts of hoops from our country to yours, usually there is a few days that activity is not updated. Sometimes this is due to customs clearance. Usually all international orders are delivered within 7-21 business days when the normal shipping method is chosen. 

Q - Can I get my skin expedited?

A - Of course! We offer 2/3-Day-Air and Overnight-Shipping options during your checkout to all customers int he USA. If you would like your order expedited to another country, please  contact us here. 

Q - I am not happy with my purchase and would like to return it, how can I?

A - No problem! Whether or not we can offer you a product you're happy with, we want you to at least be happy with our service. To return a product, follow the instructions here. 

Q - I received my skin, but I would like to exchange it for something different?

A - No problem :) Just contact us here with your order information, along with the new design you'd like and we will get you squared away:)

Q - I've had my skin for 8 years and now I'm not into it, can I return?

A - Umm... no. Sorry, if you purchased 8 years ago, it wasn't from us.  Design Skinz was Established in 2012.  Our return policy can be seen here. 

Q - I want to return my LifeProof/OtterBox Case, how can I?

A -  If you are returning a LifeProof or OtterBox Case, please make sure you return back in it's original packaging. If you are returning a LifeProof case for a defect in the case itself, you will need to contact LifeProof as they will handle sending you a replacement.  (Instructions are included inside each LifeProof package) If we receive the case and it's damaged, we will only refund 50% of the case price.
